People go to the African continent for its primal nature: deserts, dunes, impenetrable forests and wildlife. There are two countries that are the best places to start exploring Africa safely: Namibia and Botswana. Travelling with Go to Star includes both of these countries, so different and amazing.
Botswana is one of the few countries in Africa that has both rivers, forests and desert — the famous Kalahari. You can see wild predators in other countries, but only in Botswana, in the Okavango Delta, during a water safari you can watch lions crossing the river or hunting buffalo, as well as see giraffes, cheetahs, leopards, wild African dogs and, of course, elephants up close. Moving into the Kalahari Desert, you’ll see a different side of Botswana: with red sand, stunning sunsets and star-studded skies.
Namibia is named after the largest desert in the Namib region, its name literally translates to “the place where there is nothing”. The lifeless beauty of the country is not only the boundless sands with dunes, but also the picturesque Atlantic Ocean coast with dolphins, seals and thousands of birds, the bizarre Deadvlei, the world’s second largest canyon and the famous Skeleton Coast, where the remains of ships forever crashed into the dunes. Safaris here are organised by jeep, sledding down the dunes, and the most beautiful desert scenery is discovered during a hot air balloon ride.
